Some Athens addresses are in placement zones rather than one school's zone: the district assigns those students to one of a few nearby elementary schools, so call the district for any address near Barnett Shoals, Gaines, Whit Davis, Cleveland Road, Oglethorpe Avenue or Whitehead Road elementary schools.

The number by each school is its 2024-25 CCRPI score (0 to 100; Georgia's average is 78.0).

Confirm a home's zoned schools

School zones are set by the district and can change from one school year to the next. A listing's school info, and the zone map on this page, are a starting point only. Always confirm with Clarke County School District:

  1. Look up the address with the district's attendance zones and street index.
  2. Call to confirm: Clarke County School District Transportation, 706-548-6971. Ask about zone changes planned for next school year and new schools being built nearby.
  3. Before your due diligence period ends, get it in writing (an email from the district is fine) if a school is a must-have.

How Georgia rates schools

CCRPI (College and Career Ready Performance Index) is Georgia's 0 to 100 score for every public school, and it's the score on the state's School Grades Reports. It combines how students do on the Georgia Milestones tests (Content Mastery), how much they grow from year to year (Progress), whether every group of students is improving (Closing Gaps), readiness measures like reading on grade level, attendance and advanced coursework (Readiness) and, for high schools, the graduation rate.

Georgia gave schools A to F letter grades through 2018–19 and now publishes the number only, so we show the number next to Georgia's average.

Test scores say a lot but not everything. Visit, ask about class sizes, programs and activities, and talk to families nearby.

Where these numbers come from

Ratings and stats are Georgia's own public data: the Georgia School Grades Reports and College and Career Ready Performance Index (CCRPI) scores, enrollment, graduation rates, Georgia Milestones results and teacher counts, published by the Governor's Office of Student Achievement (GOSA) with the Georgia Department of Education, plus school locations from the National Center for Education Statistics. We don't use paid ratings sites. Numbers are for the school year shown and the state can revise them.

Attendance zones are drawn from each district's own published zone maps where the district shares them (source and date on each district page), and district lines from the U.S. Census Bureau. They're our best map of the lines, not the district's official word: always confirm a home's schools with the district.
