Architectural approvalAllowed with approval

Do I need approval to build or make changes in Glen Oaks?

No building can be built or altered until plans, specifications and the location have been approved in writing by the Architectural Control Committee. If the committee doesn't respond within 30 days, approval isn't required.

Home size & materialsRestricted

What size and kind of home can be built in Glen Oaks?

One-story homes need at least 2,250 square feet of heated space, and split-level or two-story homes at least 3,400 total, not counting porches and garages. One detached single-family home and a garage for up to three cars; a street-facing garage door needs committee consent. Buildings must be at least 85 feet from the street (50 feet from each street on a corner lot) unless approved. No exposed unfinished block walls, and driveways must be paved with concrete or asphalt.

FencesRestricted

Are fences allowed in Glen Oaks?

Only ornamental fences and walls that match the house are allowed, and metal or wire fences aren't allowed unless the committee approves. On corner lots, fences, walls and hedges must stay clear of a 15-foot sight triangle.

Sheds & outbuildingsRestricted

Can I add a shed or outbuilding in Glen Oaks?

The covenants list only one single-family home and a private garage as allowed structures, so a shed would likely need committee approval; confirm first. No temporary outbuilding can be used as a residence, and above-ground fuel or water tanks aren't allowed.

Pets & animalsRestricted

What pets and animals are allowed in Glen Oaks?

Dogs, cats and other household pets are fine as long as they aren't kept or bred commercially. No livestock or poultry.

Parking & vehiclesRestricted

What are the parking rules in Glen Oaks?

Trucks with more than four wheels and road or grading equipment can't be parked on streets, driveways or elsewhere on the lot, except during construction. Junk or inoperable vehicles can't be stored or repaired on the property.

SignsRestricted

Can I put up signs in Glen Oaks?

One professional sign up to 1 square foot and one sign up to 5 square feet advertising the property for sale or rent are allowed. Builder signs are allowed during construction and sales.

Pools & play equipmentRestricted

Can I add a pool or play set in Glen Oaks?

No above-ground swimming pools. Play equipment can't be closer to the street than the back of the house, and none may be set up on a lot without a house. Clotheslines and drying racks aren't allowed.

Satellite dishes & solarRestricted

Are satellite dishes and solar panels allowed in Glen Oaks?

TV and radio antennas go on the rear of the roof or the back of a chimney. No ham or transmitting antennas, and no dishes visible from a street. Solar panels must be at the side or rear, out of street view.

Trees & clearingRestricted

Can I cut down trees in Glen Oaks?

Near corner intersections, trees can stay only if their foliage is kept high enough to keep sight lines clear.

Not covered by the covenants: Rentals & leasing, Boats, RVs & trailers, Home businesses, Mailboxes & lighting. County rules still apply.

A plain-English summary of the recorded documents, not legal advice. There may be amendments or HOA rules that aren’t shown here, so always confirm with the full text and the HOA before you rely on it.
